How your business can take targeted action on climate change
By Jamie Garuti, Communications Manager
For the past couple weeks, the stories coming out of the White House have surprised you, sometimes getting you fired up, and other times leaving you feeling hopeless. It seems unclear of what role your business can play to lead and protect your community, but you know that you need to do something. You want your client base to know that you stand for progress, and want to use your unique position as a local business to work towards a better world.
If this sounds familiar, Climate Action Business Association is ready to help you turn your values into action. In these uncertain times, we have a menu of strategies for countering the losses in climate change regulations we’re seeing at the federal level – and membership is free of charge. We believe that the voices of local businesses have never been more important, and we need to move forward together.
Align your vision with the internal workings of your business.
First, we can help you align your vision of the future with the internal workings of your business. Through our Sustainability program, you’ll gain an understanding of various options to reduce your business’s impact on the climate. We will work with you to choose which solutions fit best with your business, and guide you in implementing those solutions. Our newest project, Businesses Acting on Carbon Emissions, allows you to track your business’s usage data and metrics, understand your carbon footprint, and implement thoughtful strategies to cut pollution and foster internal growth.
Our Political Advocacy program allows you to take your mission to the State House. From understanding the political landscape, to advocating for specific climate bills, to meeting with legislators, we give our member businesses all of the tools they need to dive into the political scene. The opinions of local businesses hold special weight with legislators, and we’ll guide you every step of the way to help you be as effective as possible. We advocate for a slate of policies, such as implementing a carbon pollution fee in the Commonwealth, removing the solar net metering cap, and increasing the state’s renewable energy portfolio.
Become part of a vibrant community of shared values.
Our third program area is Community. We bring our member businesses, numbering nearly 100 (and quickly growing!), together to network, build relationships, and share ideas. We offer events ranging from a yearly All Member Meeting (set for March 16th this year), to Meet & Greets with legislators, to educational panels with field experts.
Our enthusiastic and growing team allows us to accommodate your business and help you best leverage your voice as a business and community leader. We believe that by connecting businesses across industry and models we can have a positive local impact. We’re excited to hear the ideas of our members and make them a reality. Joining CABA is a concrete way that your business can make a difference — sign up to be a member today.
